After many years of Marlborough's resident cyclists meeting up to create ride groups, November sees the launch of Marlborough's first official cycling club.
The clubs origins are with the Saturday ride out from Bertie Maffoon's, the local bike shop. Over a few years, the rider numbers swelled from only couple of regulars, to a great core group of individuals, who carried on riding although the shop closed almost two years ago. The club has riders from various cycling back grounds, many who've previously been in other clubs around the country.
In recent years, as well as numerous forays around the country to various sportives, the group has organised many social evenings, a film night and cycling trips to Majorca.
Marlborough CC is fully British Cycling registered and is aimed at anyone who enjoys riding locally, and is looking for some good, inclusive and welcoming company. There is already a great looking club kit and an established core element of riders, with a great knowledge of local routes and roads.
Taken straight from their website - "Marlborough CC is a friendly, welcoming club which is affiliated with British Cycling. Joining Marlborough CC is a great way to enjoy cycling in the Marlborough area with a great bunch of people."
